This is education, not advice
The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal medical consultation. It cannot tell you which contributor produced the lines on your own mouth, whether treatment is appropriate for your skin, your health or your circumstances, or whether a treatment is suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Perioral lines are softened, not removed
Perioral lines have several contributors and every option addresses one of them for a period. Relaxing the muscle reduces movement, adding volume changes how the mouth folds, and resurfacing softens what is set in the skin. None of them erases the lines, and anyone describing a permanent or complete result is describing something that cannot be promised.
The lip border is a high-movement area
The border moves with every word and expression, the tissue there is thin, and material placed in it behaves differently from material placed in a still area of the face. The result depends on technique and on experience rather than on volume alone, and this is why the area is assessed and treated with particular care.
A lip change may not be cosmetic
A sore or crust that does not heal within a few weeks, a change confined to one side, numbness or altered sensation, sudden deep fissuring with inflammation, or a recurring blister in the same spot is a medical finding. It is assessed by a doctor before anything cosmetic is considered.
